The task of increasing the contrast and the brightness of video is very often required in myriad applications. Possible reasons for contrast and brightness degradation or distortion include low-quality capturing hardware, non-ideal lighting conditions and damaged film media.

Common problems with less sophisticated solutions include noise amplification, inefficiency of automatic correction and severe post-processing damage to or loss of detail in bright or dark areas.

Our solution effectively mitigates these obstacles by choosing the best way to process each pixel.

The YUV Contrast solution contains different algorithms for image and video processing, along with various quality/speed tradeoff settings, and can process video in a fully automatic mode using scene change detection and adaptation methods.

The algorithm can be applied to both moving and static pictures.
