In practice, almost all digital video streams are compressed using lossy codecs. During playback of decompressed video, blocking artifacts commonly appear. Even for high-bitrate video, these artifacts are prominent in scenes with fast moving objects.
Our technology minimizes blocking artifacts, significantly improving the visual quality of decoded video.
We offer a range of deblocking algorithms with various complexity/quality trade-offs. Certain of these algorithms are designed for high- and medium-bitrate video; other, more complex algorithms actually reconstruct degraded images and greatly enhance the visual quality of low-bitrate video. These latter algorithms are particularly useful, for example, for Internet broadcasting via restricted bandwidth channels.
