Video CompressionEssentially every practical use of video requires some form of compression, sheerly because of the large volume of uncompressed video. Usually, compression is lossy, meaning that decoded images are not exactly the same as original. For some applications, however, like video editing, lossless compression is either desirable or mandatory. Contemporary video compression systems (codecs), usually implementing MPEG-4 or H.264 standards, are very complex. It is connected not only with the algorithmic complexity of encoding and decoding, but also with the large quantity of various possibilities and options allowed by standards. It is a well-known fact that, due to use of professional know-how and tuning, codecs of the same standard can differ drastically in compressed video quality for the same bitrates (size of compressed video) and similar processing speeds. That is why, when developing a codec, it is essential not only to implement a chosen part of a standard, but also to devise algorithms for codec control and to tune all codec blocks to achieve high-quality video with a competitive processing speed. We have gained extensive experience in codec testing, in discovery of weak points in codecs relative to the products of competitors, and in subsequent improvement and tuning of codecs. Also, we possess a portfolio of effective pre-processing and post-processing algorithms, thus making it possible to significantly improve video quality. In the area of lossless compression, we also have extensive knowledge and work experience. Our main specialty in this niche is complex algorithms that provide high compression. An example of our work is the YULS codec, which provides the maximum compression ratio available today for lossless compression. We OfferBasic types of collaboration (please also see the dedicated page on codec testing):
