Video Quality Enhancement

The problems of video quality improvement or video reconstruction (repair) arise for a multitude of practical digital processing tasks. It is sufficient to point out a few of the most common situations:

• Improvement of received analog video quality before or after conversion to a digital signal in television equipment and similar devices
• Reconstruction of severely compressed video (alleviation of compression artifacts, such as blockiness) for display in set-top-boxes, DVD players and software video players, and for transcoding
• Improvement of the quality of digitized video acquired from films and VHS cassettes;
• Suppression of noise, shaking and flickering in video acquired from camera sensors

Successful completion of such tasks usually requires the use of non-trivial video processing algorithms that are able to automatically adapt to various input data. We possess an extensive portfolio of such and have gained a considerable amount of experience in solving practical problems using these algorithms. All our algorithms have software implementations, and they often permit effective hardware implementations as well.
