Short Description
In recent years the display industry has made giant steps in technology and production, but, in principle, the same 2D video display technology is still being used. Hiqh quality 3D displays for consumer use are still expensive. Multiview stereo displays require standardization and special preparation of video, and, most likely, they will remain expensive for some years. Also, there is still a lack of 3D content. Therefore, gaining a competitive edge means more intensive research into video depth enhancement, so as to meet the growing demand for new, useful functions and for improved technical characteristics of displays. The purpose of such video manipulation is to enhance the viewer’s visual perception of objects in the scene and to increase the viewer’s subjective three-dimensional perception of the video while still using the same 2D screens and cameras.
We are currently developing “2.5D Video” technology to solve this problem. This technology is based on some of our other algorithms including YUV Contrast, YUV Sharpen, YUV Segmentation, YUV Face-Skin Detection, YUV Object Removal and the rest.
